The Brief
A US platform company builds products for many end-clients at once on a standardised Django + React stack. Engineers are engaged per product, and the ones who deliver get the next one. They engaged me 21 separate times between 2019 and 2025.
What the Work Looked Like
- Backend (Django/DRF) and frontend (React) product builds, models, APIs, auth, admin and UI, under a shared platform architecture where consistency beats cleverness.
- Parallel delivery: multiple product contracts running side by side, each with its own client expectations, on the same standards.
- Range within one stack: dashboards, mobile backends, deployment work, and a 4-year Django interactive-forms engagement for another client alongside.
- The same discipline now powers francofunrewards.ca (Django 5 in production) and FastAPI runtimes for AI systems.
Why It Holds Up
Twenty-one repeat engagements is not luck; it is a track record of estimates met, standards followed and handovers that let the next engineer continue without me. That is what platform companies pay for.
